Hi im planning on buying a dell 6400 off dell.ca. I find them a great deal considering graphics card it comes with, im also upgrading hd to 160. Question is should i upgrade battery. Are the other options any better. I think it comes with a 53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery. Should i upgrade to 85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery or 6 or 9 cell battery?

if you need it, then get it, personally, i am a person who doesnt use the battery that often, but when i do, i wish i had bought the 9 cell (yes i have the 6 cell) also, i think its only a 50 max upgrade isnt it? i would get it, but then again, do you really need it, and what is your budget?

if you plan to take your 6400 on the road, then a bigger battery pack should help. but if it is for home use, then doesn't really matter.

for my personal use i am very glad that i have got a 9 cell battery, as i like having my laptop on max specs and screen brightness, therefore this makes the battery drain faster, but still lasts quite a while ;)

so i would advise 9 cell

Definitely go for the 9cell, I opted for that and even on 85% brightness (2 bars from the max), I get almost 3 1/2 hours of battery life. This is really good IMO, since I do have a 2Ghz proc, 160GB HD, 2GB ram, and 15.4" screen w/ dedicated gfx card. Even on battery the thing is fast and doesn't flinch at almost anything I throw at it. And i'm a guy who likes to burn a dvd, while listening to songs or surfing the web and sometimes compress large folders or convert/resize many digital pix at once. Wifi is on always.

So it's not like i'm just surfing the web.. which doesn't really take much battery power.

forgot to mention, it will be slightly heavier than a 6 cell, so it depends if your after portability or not...
