I am thinking of upgrading the BIOS from A03 to A08, but before I had upgraded from A03 to A07 and had heat issues then downgraded back to A03. In A08 does this problem still continues or it is better? I heard of a thermal control and increase in performence in the new BIOS. Have any one tested it yet? Do u recommend to update the BIOS?

I upgraded from A03 to A08 but I can't answer your question because I use I8kfangui to control the fan anyway...
-
Has anyone noticed that the E1505 actually has 3 fan speeds but I8kfangui can only set the fan to slow or fast? I have an E1505 (running BIOS A06) and I8kfangui, but I mostly just use it to monitor the temps. Also, has anyone had a noticeable increase in performance when updating their BIOS?

I upgraded today to A08 BIOS and I have noticed a difference in the temp again! But this time it goes to 54 when not using it then jumps back to 38 and every couple of mintues it does the same thing. I am using NHC to monitor the temp
-
What temp does the fan turn on at? I think mine turns on (speed slow) at 48 C.
-
In the bios settings, what do you have the fan set to? You should really set it to "performance"
-
Does that make the fan turn on at lower temps? If so, what temps?
-
Not exactly sure, my laptop's new and I haven't monitored temps yet, I just know that it's best to set the fan on performance
-
there is no fan control option in the inspiron 6400/e1505 A08 BIOS
-
nor is there fan control in BIOS A06.
-
One of the specified changes in the BIOS is "Update thermal control", though it doesn't say how. Might be worth it for anyone having problems with temps. I installed it yesterday, but never checked for differences. I did notice that during regular usage last night that the fans came on less and the system is already sitting atop a laptop cooler.

mbush, im at like a05 or a06, and no bad temps but I have also noticed the strange jump in temp for approximetly one reading in i8kfan. I just ignore it, it dosnt set the fan off.
-
I reverted back to what my 6400 shipped with, A03, but I think I'll give A08 a go as it seems to be getting favourable comments around the web.
-
I went from A07 to A08 and noticed no detriment.
I'll admit that my E1505 was only in my hot little hands for about a week before I bumped up so it's hard for me to compare, but I've seen no adverse reactions since that has caused me any concern.
Should I upgrade my 6400/e1505 to A08 BIOS?
