So far I've been completely happy with my notebook, but recently it has had problems shutting down or even restarting. However, it'll work perfectly fine when waking up from hibernation.
Anyway, the problem occurs after Windows shuts down and logs off. The screen remains black, but power remains on for some reason. It won't turn off at all. I thought this to be a Windows problem at first, but I can't see anything wrong with it. Could there be something wrong elsewhere?
Any tips and suggestions are welcome. I'm not exactly sure what to classify this as in terms of hardware or software related.

did you install any new hardware recently?

Actually I figured out the issue.
It had to do with my network card and Quickset.
My network card was set on "Wake On LAN" and Quickset de-activated my card while running on battery. So when shutting down on battery power, Quickset would reactivate my network card while Windows was shutting down. For some reason my system was getting confused as to whether it was supposed to be shutting down or not.
Well for future reference, if anyone else has issues with a notebook stalling during shutdown, make sure none of your devices is set to "wake up" your system. It can lead to the same mess I was trying to deal with.
