On Dell Laptops using a SigmaTel Audio Soundcard/Driver, There is no way to find a "WaveOut" / "StereoOut" option on the Recording tab. Disabling the Driver disables all volume options and only enables PC Speaker audio.

Has anyone found a way to enable Stereo/WaveOut? (The quickfix is connecting the Microphone jack to the Speaker jack via. double-ended-1/8" cable, but on some Dell laptops, the sound has a little static.)

Hi. I also had this problem especially when running vista as OS and therefore having the sigmatel vista drivers.
While I had XP installed, it was possible for me to activate the stereomix option by double-clicking the speaker symbol on the taskbar, then going to options and then under the option 'recording' activating the stereomix by checking the box 'stereomix'
I made a picture of this process a while back for another forum whereas 'aufnahme' means recording
