Just curious they are both 45nm but the Core i7 is using up 45watts TDP vs the Core 2 Duo only 35watts TDP

any other roadblocks or will it just not fit.

I think the mobile Core i7 has 4 Cores each Hyperthreading they should be very fast.

New socket, new chipset; won't work. Period.

Yup, completely different architecture, let alone that I doubt the Studio 17 has enough cooling for an i7.

I'd hang fire anyway, wont be that long (relatively speaking) until mobile versions are out, which will be much nicer to machines (though still unable to be put into your Studio).

another simple questions what about a Core 2 Quad?? probably not right.

I guess a T9900 is the tops a Studio can take. Will wait for these to drop in price, the Sooner the Mobile Core i7's take over the faster the T9900 will drop.

There are Core 2 Quads that fit Socket P and the 45 chipset, but it's highly unlikely that the BIOS supports these. Nobody's ever tried, though, so it's hard to be certain.
