Hi Guys/Girls,
I ordered a Dell XPS M1330 but realised I didnt upgrade me screen.I ordered the XPS because of how sleek it looked. But now I cant change the order. Is there a huge difference in thickness between the LED and LCD? Will the LCD only option be thinner that a 13.3Inch Mac??
HELP PLEASE! Im so dissapointed now to think I wasted my money on another fat notebook.
-
the LED screen is significantly thinner, just call dell customer service and they will help you sort it out if you want to change your order
-
I tried but the damn lady said that it was already in production and it couldnt be done! Ahhhhhh.....How much thinner is significantly thinner?
-
already in production and could not be done? Rofl! DEMAND that the order be CANCELLED and that the laptop is NOT to your standards. Worst comes to worst you have to wait another 7 years for the laptop, but atleast you'll get the screen you wanted.
I cancelled my 1521 THREE DAYS into production to bump up to the 1721 with the free upgrade to the RAM and HD. -
you could always cancel and reorder if it bothers you a lot, right?
-
^ Hell yes. You don't like something you ordered? cancel it. They will still box it up and hold it for the next in line (so to speak) with the same specs you ordered. It's no loss to them, trust me.
-
Yeah I could do that but I wasnt going to bother if the difference in thickness was little. So do you know where I could find the difference in thickness? Dell Australia doesnt say what the difference in thickness is between the 2 screens.

All XPS M1330 LCD Hi-Definition panels are 13.3 inch WideSscreen (1280x800) Displays with TrueLife. The LED display starts at 3.97lbs and is 0.87 inches thick compared to the standard display which starts at 4.28lbs. and is 0.97 inches thick
i found this on the US dell site -
quite a bit of difference

Thanks for that Jokkon. Thats not too bad. I will stick to my LCD option then. In order to upgrade the screen its another AU$199.00. The difference is only 0.10 Inches and it is still thinner than the MacBook.
Excellent....Release The Hounds...
I feel better now. -
0.10 might seem like a big difference to some people. Being an Aussie I had to convert it to CM's to have an understanding how much it was. 0.25cm isnt that much.
$200 extra is alot for 0.25cm's!! -
i agree that there isn't much of a difference in terms of thickness but the LCD screen seems to be a lot heavier than the white led screen 0.3lbs heavier thats albout 6 to 7 % of the entire weight. And the white led screen is brighter and more power efficient as well.
