Hi all, I recently got a Dell Vostro 1500. It's an awesome computer, and I absolutely love it. I bought my own memory and hard drive though, as it would have cost way more to buy it through Dell.

Anyway, after installing Vista Ultimate on the hard drive and getting everything set up. QuickSet is being slightly annoying. If I press Fn + Up or Down to change the brightness of the display the little info window shows up in the lower right corner of the display. That's working perfectly and I'm not having any problems with it. The volume pop up isn't being so nice though. Whenever I restart my computer it resets its position. I can drag it down to the corner again but next time I restart it changes again. Also annoying is if a program is open it won't show up, and the brightness one does. Anyone know how to fix this?

I notice that there are registry entries that appear to control this. You could try editing them.

SilentExeption's edited quickset.exe fixed my problem. The volume popup stays where I put it now, even after a restart.
