Hey, my girlfriend just got a new Inspiron 6400 from Dell that is emitting a slight high pitched buzzing noise from an area that is right over the GPU, which is an x1400. I was wondering if other users of either the i6400 or E1505 have heard similar noises. Does anyone know if this noise is normal? What do you think she should do? She called Dell once, and they said that it might be the HD, and they sent here a new one, but that didn't remedy the problem. Any ideas?

Also, if anyone is using temperature monitoring software (SpeedFan, NHC, 19kfangui, etc) if you could post your temps of CPU and GPU, that would be great. Thanks.

With Azureus, Windows Media Player, Firefox, AIM, and Adobe Acrobat reader open for about 2 hours:

    CPU: 45C, GPU: 51C, HD: 48C

High pitch buzzing? I noticed somethin was making a buzzing noise when I was playing BF2142 on Camp Gibaltar, but I think it was only that map (or part of the game), it didnt show up on any of my other games. What were you doing on the laptop when the noise occurred?

My girlfriend wasn't doing anything. It is just like that on idle. I appreciate the temps though. Thanks.

I think that buzz might be from the LCD inverter. Try all levels of the brightest & see whether there is a buzz on all of them.

Hmm..yes, that is a good idea. Does anyone know where the LCD inverter is located on that particular model. Thanks.

Its probably just circuit resistance noise emitting from the board near the power plug. Mine stopped buzzing after a month or two.

No, I haven't g/f isn't around, I keep updating her with what everyone is saying though. I'll have to take a look at it this weekend. Honestly, I think it may be an unsolvable thing in terms of getting the noise to stop. Just have to wait and see I suppose. I'll let you know if I figure anything out though. Thanks.
