    Slow shipping date for Dell Inspiron 1520??

    Hey everyone, I was just curious if anyone had a solution to my question. I built and ordered a new Dell Inspiron 1520 through dell.com on March 6 and my estimated ship date is April 3. Has anyone else ran into the same situation of a long ship date for an inspiron 1520 or any laptop from dell to take a long time to ship recently? Any suggestions? Thanks

    Well, it is a discontinued laptop...They are probably really low on parts to build it with.

    Dell uses very pessimistic shipping dates. After the debacle over the summer, they're going to under-promise and over-deliver instead of the other way around.

    just curious.. why would you opt for a 1520.. and not a 1525... it is not like they marked them down.. is it because you want XP over vista??

    ordered my xps M1530 last thursday (6th), est date is 25th...... so yea. i got the long date thing going on to.

    Thanks for the info, and yes, it was basically because of XP and a friend of mine has it.

    This appears to be what's happened to me. I ordered my XPS M1530 late evening on Monday 10th, and was told an estimation of Apr 7th for delivery. This morning I got a call telling me that it's with the couriers and it'll be delivered on Monday morning. That's only 3 working days from taking the order to shipping it out. Pretty impressive. I just hope they've bolted everything together.
