I am at the end of my rope with my Inspiron E1505 and Dell tech support. My sound is horrible...it lags, skips and crackles. I have given up on Dell tech support, after 10 hours on the phone. They sent a tech out who installed a new motherboard in April. Windows XP has been reinstalled more times then I can count. At the present, Dell tells me they cannot resolve the problem. My computer is almost 2 years old and under warrenty until Sept. 09. Please advise.

    Thanks,
    Gina

What exactly is the problem? Where does the sound lag, movies? Songs? Everywhere? Do you have the latest audio drivers and the latest BIOS?

I would guess that was part of the reinstall of the motherboard.Even the system sounds lag and pop. All music and video also. I think it has nothing to do with the sound but rather the management of the resources.

As far as I can tell, it's probably a driver problem. You could try removing your earlier drivers, and re-installing the latest ones. Here's the link for the latest sound drivers for you system.

Unless it is a hardware problem, where your only option would be to ask for a replacement.
