So I did something silly to my Inspiron

Half a glass of sticky dessert wine silly to be exact. And now it's kinda dead.
Thankfully the harddrives are still alive, and I've been backing up what I can, but I'm having trouble with some of the files on the C: drive.

Even more thankfully, I bought the Dell Care Premium cover when I got it back in Nov '07.

Can someone tell me, when the tech comes out/I send it back, do I need to send it back with the drives in it, or can I hang on to them? I just have a fair bit of sensitive data on there, and the thought of starting from scratch setting everything up is a bit of a pain in the nose (Though it would be a good reason to give Win7 a try).

    Any experiences here?

    Thanks in advance.

Usually Dell is really reasonable with this sort of thing. Contact them prior to sending the laptop back and tell them you're going to hang on to the drive and they should OK it. I know others have done the same.
