...now my screen resolution doesn't seem quite right?
It's at the highest setting which is 1024x768. It was so much clearer with Vista and I have also checked other XP users laptops and there definately seems to be something wrong with mine.
I have been through the clear type thing and thats all right.
I checked the drivers in Device manager and there seems to be 2 missing. Under display adaptors and they are "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for XP"
I presume this is the problem? Although when i download what I think are these drivers from the dell site it doesn't register them or it says that I have a newer version of these already installed?
Please help, this resolution is giving me a headache and I don't really want to have to go back to Vista as everything runs so much better with XP.
Hello everyone by the way, i'm new round here![]()
Look forward to your advice...

You might wanna give us the specs of your laptop and which one it is along with any other information you can possibly give us.

Sure, i'm sorry...
It's a Dell Inspiron 1520
Intel Celeron CPU
1.86Ghz
1GB RAM
Running XP Pro Service Pack 3 was originally Vista Basic
Anything else I need to say?
Thanks in advance guys -
Please give the full specs of your machine. Please mention whether you are using a widescreen or a standard screen. if you have a widescreen monitor then 1024 x 768 might not be the ideal resolution for you. you will have to go for at least 1280 x 800. do you remember your resolution settings in vista ?
you must bne knowing that all LCD monitors are having a native resolution which they can display very crisply. turning to any other resolution makes the display considerably blurrier. this might the case with you. please post the details mentioned above so that we can go on further with the troubleshooting -
i see that you are having a widescreen but you are running in standard resolution. this is due to the fact that u havent installed proper drivers for your graphics card. before you install new driver. uninstall the previous driver by right clicking the device in device manager and choosing uninstall. then install the new driver. try this link for the driver

Ok, thanks for all your help.
Intel Celeron processor
1Gb memory
80 Gb hard drive
Dell 1390 wireless mini-card
15.4" widescreen
Integrated Intel Graphic Media Accelerator x3100
Windows Vista Home Basic
What else do you require?
As i said before I checked device manager and under "display adaptors" the 'mobile intel(R) 965 express chipset family' drivers are missing. I can't seem to find anything that works from the dell drivers website.
The resolution at the moment is set to 1024x768 when i check display properties, the dpi setting is normal size 96 dpi and it will not allow me to select properties under monitor type.
I have included a screen print of how it looks now, as you can see it is not as crisp as it should be.

I do hope I have included sufficient information, please forgive me if not as i'm not brilliant at this sort of thing.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

Also, I have noticed another small problem. The Audio does not seem to be as good as it was in Vista, is this just a problem I have to deal with becuase I downgraded or is there something else wrong?
I am just using the standard internal soundcard, as I was in vista yet the audio is definately not as clear. I have checked all my drivers and they seem to be installed.
Any idea's?
So I downgraded to XP and.....
