And I told the Dell rep that my laptop is supposed to ship today but is still in the "build" stage. He told me not to worry that no delays are showing up for my laptop and that it is still planned to ship today. I told him the phone service still says my laptop is in the build stage and I told him that I have not yet heard that it is in the boxing stage. He told me the boxing stage is not told over the phone and that it goes from "in production" to "shipping".

Was this just a misinformed rep and should I not expect my laptop on Friday or Monday(2 day shipping)?

The thing I want to know is, shouldn't I have heard, after the "build" stage, that I am now in the "boxing" stage?

I don't want to start any alarm of any sort, but I just finished chatting with a Dell Chat customer service agent an this is what i was told about my Studio 15, "From what I can see this model computer has a delay. Unfortunately I do not have a specified reason or a new estimated date"

So this contradicts the August 7th ship date that i was told yesterday, when i asked them if i should assume August 7th was the new ship date, "No I do not expect it to be."

And then if it will be here before August 30th, "It could be a long delay, unfortunately I have no estimated date."

I am really not impressed by Dell.

I am pretty sure the +7 ship date is generic, probably even an automated email.

As far as I know, mine m1330 is in boxing. I don't think shipping from where ever to US Dell shipping center would take 7 days.

Oh my date is also 8/5 -> 8/12

Actually Testing comes after the Build stage, then after Testing it goes into the Boxing stage. Testing takes within 3 hours usually.

    Wonder what the delay is.

I hope the +7 ship date isn't generic. It's like Dell is mocking their customers.

I've been told my XPS is in production now, but the online order status is really a joke as it has been keeping my order in 'pre-production' ever since the 1st August (order date 31st July)...

According to a Dell rep, 'the system needs time to update' and according to another rep there's no delays known for my order and that it should still be delivered on or before the EDD...

I'll believe it when I have the XPS on my doorstep...
