...and immediately began obsessively dialing the order status line 10 times a day right from the day I placed the order. (I put a photo dialer icon on the today screen on my Sprint Mogul, with the dell logo as the photo.)
Am I nuts? WTH am I expecting this soon? Why do I do this? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!!!!!!
It's been in BUILD since Monday (I know this is current because I paused while typing this to CHECK MY STATUS YET AGAIN!) with an estimated ship date of 5/28. Even though I know that nothing is likely to change until late next week at the earliest, I CONTINUE TO CALL DELL EVERY COUPLE OF WAKING HOURS!!! I've even taken to watching YouTube videos of strangers unboxing their own M1530's.
Please help me.

you're one strange guy

check its status once again

OK, my order is In production, and is currently in the Build Stage.

It's fun to call and check, ain't it?
-
I might call and actually speak with a rep on Monday. That will be three weeks from order. I emailed them, got free next day shipping, but they won't tell me what part is taking so long.

you are not alone brother -
We should start a support group.I have the same problem, only I keep looking for other laptops that I might want so that I can cancel my dell order and get a lappy here faster. Found a nice Sager for not too much...close, but no cigar.
I'm going to have to wait it out...*runs off to check order status* -
At risking the craving to hit the speed dial on my cell phone, does Dell's Order Status get updated on the weekends?
Been 3 weeks, I don't think I can go 2 days in a row without checking the status. I'm afraid I'll go into withdraws.......
If you know, and even if isn't good news, go ahead and tell me the truth, I'll just keep checking NBR to quell my craving. -
I've got that exact same feeling. Except instead of calling to check order status all the time, I check NBR. What is worse is my estimated shipping date is June 12th even though I ordered on Monday also.

Help....

I have that feelings sometimes. But it's a bit difficult for me to check because I haven't actually ordered the M1530 yet. lol.
Yeah, it's one of those way too excited things. But the youtube videos... now thats a problem.
Same for people who make those videos. -
It seems like a lot of you guys with the 250MB 7200RPM HDDs have at least a month for ESD!! Thats pretty crazy wut the heck is Dell doing?! haha.. I ordered mine yesterday on 06/18 and they are saying my ESD is 06/03 and EDD 06/05, because I did 2nd business day shipping but I would really hope it comes in before June because I have to go back to school this sucks..!
-
sorry correction i meant i ordered 05/18 haha..
-
*crosses finger* Per Dell website, nothing should cause a delay with my order. But, reading everyones complaints I'm very concerned. Now, that I read that someone was told that the standard battery 6 cell battery was causing a delay I'm worried.
Really need this by alleged delivery date. I guess all I can do is if its not test stage by 6/3 , cancel the order or have someone ship my laptop to where I"ll be for 2 weeks.
Hopefully we both get our laptop w/o delays
and everyone else ./ -
yah hopefully that would be great!

man, i can understand you...
i ordered my laptop on the 12th of may from south america and no im waiting for him, i have a flight on the 26th of may and i want to get it before so ill be able to check that everything is ok with it.
anyway im coming back sometime around july what do you think
should i do, should i cancel it if i wont see that they are shipping it tomorrow and order another one in a month and a half or should i just get it and will be able to use it only in july?
frustrating... -
That is like gambling. I would suggest that you cancel because of 21 days return policy. and order like 2 weeks before you return home, that way, you don't have to wait too long. Either that or get something from Dell Outlet.
-
man its so frustrating this preccess...
i like you check in the website almost in every hour
and i call them to see any changes.
each time that i get a rep on the phone i get the same answer, estimated ship 28/5 but it might get before...
its like they are reading it to me from the order status on the website...
do you know if they also work on the weekend? and if DHL is working on the weekend?
and if yes is it possible to change the delivery address?
if i wont be able to get it on this weekend i would have to cancel it...
bah... i really wanted to get a laptop already! and now ill have to wait another 1-2 months... so frustrating...
i didnt got anything that was suppose to delayed my order...
all you 12/5 orders, what you think is there a chance to get it in the next couple of days? -
-
The day I ordered mine I checked the other notebooks to see what items would cause potential delays. (As far as the 1530 the day I purchased it and to this date there is nothing listed). One of the things listed was the six cell battery option on the Insp. line. As of yesterday, its not listed anymore.
Also, 1730 shows a potential delay for the250GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive Free Fall Sensor.
Strangely, for the 1530 none of these potential delays were listed. Except it has a long build time compared to others 10 days. (others are couple days).
*shrug*
I give up trying to figure it out. My plan is simple if not in testing before ESD, I'll assume its delayed and may cancel. However, it seems most people got their delay notice days before the ESD. -
I remember calling one a service rep one time, asked them if they could expedite my order and upgrade my shipping because my ship date is June 12th when I ordered on May 13th. The lady apologized and said that she could not do it and not even getting a manager approval could work because it was not physically possible to do so. She said they have to cancel and re-place the order to change shipping type. Then I said, "thanks anyways, bye", but she she said "wait, i have some important information to tell you". I said ok and waited. She tells me that my order's estimated ship date was June 12th, and expected delivery was 15th-17th. Then I said ok again and good bye, then hung up. CSRs... I dont think they even listen to what your saying sometimes. Telling me "important information" that I mentioned earlier in the phone convos. Some are great, but others... just kinda forgetful... or not mentally awake.
-
7:24:04 PM XPS_AMB_Rep_Maricris yes there are delays on the stocks of the 6 cell battery right now.
They also said the 8300 and 9300 is delayed -
PRAISE THE LORD! HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!
I just called to check order status excepting to be in the Build Stage like when I called yesterday, but I just got off the phone with them and my order is in the TESTING stage. Not build, TESTING!!!! I'm sooooo happy!!!! Theres actually progress!!!! Real progress!!!! (My order has EST of June 12th)
You ordered a day earlier than me FountainHead and you have a much earlier ESD, has your order got some progress yet? Sure it must've since mine just updated today. -
That ASUS is looking better every day. -
If I could get 12 month no interest somewhere else I wouldnt be bothering with waiting for this Dell.
-
im so frustrated... im tired of checking the order status and to see no changes, im tired speaking with rep who doesnt know anything and keep telling me the same. im tired that everyone keep telling me that the estimate shipping is at the 28th....
basically im frustrated and tired...
someone know id DHL do deliveries on the weekend? (saturday, sunday?)
if no than tomorrow when ill check my order status again and ill see no changes im canceling my order... i really wanted to have a laptop for my flight and thats why i order it 10 days ago and i just dont get how i didnt got it...
im just starting to give up over please someone tell me some encouraging things that he heard from the rep... -
My ESD is 5/28, too, and I ordered on April 28. -
Now all us six-cellers need to wait a little longer...hang in there... -
-
Do they do Testing and Boxing on Sat or Sun?
-
Do they do testing and boxing in the US or over in Malaysia?
And I doubt DHL will deliver on Monday. -
I'm sure "testing" is in Malaysia. I think "Boxing" is the entire process of shipping the notebook from Malaysia to the US and completing the final boxing.
And yeah, there's no way there's any deliveries in the US on Memorial Day. -
They do the testing in Malaysia, boxing is the process in Malaysia to US, so yeah, its in Malaysia too.
-
If the "EGG" allowed you to return laptops for a refund I would tend to agree with Fountainhead, the Asus M50Sa would be looking better all the time. However if you purchase one and you don't like it you are stuck, no refunds on laptops at Newegg.
-
I'd stick with the M1530 over the ASUS M50Sa anyday. Besides, by the time you place an order with ASUS, your laptop might already ship. It shouldn't be long now. My guess is it'll ship sometime next week. Just 7 days, keep it up.
-
I tend to agree with you Forte but I would like to see one, I have used Asus MB's in my desktops for years and they haven't disappointed me yet.
Have been using Dell laptops since the mid 90's and they do work. All of them have been Inspirons and Latitudes up till now. -
-
M50Sa= 1680x1050, 500gb HDD.
GPU is the same ATI HD 3650 which is ddr2 I believe which doesn't matter to me. Both have 1000Mbps LAN, HDMI & eSata ports. The num pad does look nice though. -
In addition to the 500 GB hd and the 1680x1050 screen, the SA also has the 1 GB ATI Raedon HD 3650 graphics card, vs the 512 MB Geforce 9500M GS in the SV. From what I've read about the video cards, that's sort of a wash and the 1 GB of video ram is excessive for a card like that. The 500 GB HD is certainly a temptation, but I use a laptop as a secondary machine and really don't require so much internal storage. Still, it'd be nice to have it. And although I ordered 1680x1050 on my vaporware M1530, I'm actually wondering if the 1440 screen would be better for me. I'm typing right now on 1680x1050 on a 22 inch monitor, and I'm having a hard time seeing how to shrink that onto 15.4 inches and still be able to read it with my 40-ish eyes.
All things being equal, I'd probably order the SA but I like the idea of the support and options that I can specify from one of the vendors like GentechPC so that tips the scale to the M50sv-a1. Dell has 4.5 days left. I'm ordering the ASUS on the 28th unless Dell performs a miracle of sorts and actually ships the XPS.
I'm not holding my breath. -
I'm just as bad if not worse.
I ordered my 1530 on monday (5-19) and already i'm losing it...
I call all the time...I check online all the time.
I have my order number stored near the front of my memory...I really want this computer...
I basically joined this forum for support lol.... -
-
Anyone know if Dell does production work (building, testing, boxing) on weekends?
-
-
I just thought I would like the higher resolution for digital photos.

It's definitely not as streamlined as the XPS, but it does look like a sweet machine. -
-
So I ordered my XPS M1530 on Monday...
