I ordered a Inspiron E1420 and it is coming this week...and when I ordered it I didn't even take a look at the screen choices and went with Anti-Glare b/c It did not have the dumb "this option may delay your shipment".
Right now I have an E1405 that I love however I do have Glossy and I love the screen.
I think that I made a mistake by picking Anti-Glare b/c I think its not going to look anywhere near as good as the glossy that i have now.![]()
If I get this laptop and don't like the anti-glare what are my options?
tell dell its defective with some screen bull**** and get a refund and re-order when another good deal comes out?
order the glossy screen from ebay and replace it?
any ideas?
Thanks, Nick

If you don't like it, you should return it.
However, if you are pretty set on a glossy screen, you should cancel and re-order.
I would go look at a Dell kiosk if there's one in your area and decide what you'd prefer.
Buy the notebook you want. Don't settle. -
yea the problem is my dell will be arriving in about 2 days...and i waited a long time for it and if i send it back and re-order i wont get it in time for school...which i can do w/o it for a few weeks but right now the price of my laptop with its current config is about $200 more...so i would have to wait for another good deal which could take forever.
-
if its coming in two days, you should just wait for it and see how the screen looks like.
if you dont like it, i highly advise returning it. dont compromise. you're paying a good amount of money for this, and you're gonna be using it for 3-5 years. you dont wanna be stuck with a machine you hate, but will need to use everyday.
there is a trade off though, as you said. returning it will give you the screen that you want, but you wont get it in time for school. you make the final decision: is a longer wait worth it for a better screen? -
Midnight Blue Inspiron E1420 W/ The Delivery Courrier as of 7:30AM...i will be receiving it when i get home from work this evening...i HOPE the screen is nice and i dont want to return it

you might have less headphone jack interference without bluetooth.
-
what is this headphone jack interference you speak of? I have bluetooth and i plug in external speakers to my laptop but never headphones...could i be affected by this problem?
-
I got the basic anti-glare screen and I really like it. I had the glossy m1710 and it was pretty but there was tons of glare. This is a nice change.
-
Yea now that i'm thinking about it...i think the anti-glare screen will be fine...it wont be a glossy screen but thats fine...as long as its not grainy and the headphone jack doesnt transmit static to my speakers i will be happy.
-
Why would the headphone jack be affected by the screen?
-
Just tell Dell they put the wrong screen on it then send it back. If they messed up, they should fix it without you having to reorder.
-
no no...first off dell did not make the mistake...i did...ordered the anti-glare not realizing its not the same as the screen i have now (glossy).
& 2nd...i didnt say the screen has nething to do with headphone interference..i just wanted to know if the problem with the audio input could affect my laptop at all... -
OK..new question...so lets say i get home today and hate the anti-glare screen...
since i re-ordered my laptop over the phone b/c i wanted to change the color of the lid....what if i call Dell & tell them they simply sent me the wrong screen and i told the csr over the phone that along with changing the color of the lid i also wanted to change the screen to glossy...however i received it today and its anti-glare...what will be the course of action the dell csr will take?
send me a prepaid sticker to mail back the laptop and then they re-order it so im at the back of the line or what? -

That's up to you... I would be honest about it though, just in case that warning about the phone call being recorded is true... I'm sure you can return it and have them switch it to the glossy screen without a problem...
-
well if i just call up and say i want glossy instead they will take it back and send me a new one?
I also dont feel like waiting forever for it
So I think i might have made a mistake...
