"You know...I have worked in production before and boxing really does take a long time!"

Seriously, I have no idea. The only guess is that part of the boxing process takes place in America.

Did you get upgraded to "Next Business Day" shipping?

I have a suspicion that to mollify some customers, Dell says they upgrade you to "next day" shipping, but then, what they really do is ship the normal, cheaper way, and then just tell the customer that it is still in "boxing" for several more days until the package is 1 day away - then suddenly they say "Shipped!" and so the customer -thinks- that they received it via "next day" shipping.

Thats my tinfoil hat theory of the day.

I think they're just lying again to try to appease customers. The person with the theory about next-day shipping and holding the laptop and saying it's in "boxing" for a few days - that makes sense to me. I think Dell would pull that trick in a hot second. Think about all the freebies and coupons they're giving out. I'm sure they're gonna try to recover it somehow.

Boxing begins when computers are crated in Malaysia, and continues in the destination country where the computers are taken off of cargo 747's and put into the pretty consumer boxes with the manuals and everything else to make the computer complete.

Or so I've read. Sounds like a believable statement to me.

I think the boxing stage is when they ship the computer from Malaysia(or where ever the heck they build them) to a Dell warehouse in the states
