There so new there's still no reviews for them on Dell's site. It's the ones with the 3rd gen Intel. How long has this new model been out ?

I received my "DELL Inspiron 17R 5721" 2 days ago in France, and I experiment the same problem : the fan is running at the full speed when no CPU load, and the fan noise is very irritating... Moreover I was not able to create system recovery discs with DELL utility (it burns the first disc and gets frozen). At this step, I cannot recommend this laptop to my friends...

I received my 7720 SE, on 2/16. I had to wait almost 3 weeks, from ordering, til arrival at my door. It was well worth the wait. This is a great model! Very fast and it has handled everything i've thrown at it with ease.

My 17R SE had a defective MB on arrival, but after replacement all is fine. Despite a poor WEI score of 5.9 (from the HDD), I would rate it about the performance of my XPS 15, which cost more 2 years ago. I think with W8 & the mSata caching drive (or a replacement SSD), the machine is a very high spec for the price. I have had no fan problems as yet, it also seems to run fairly cool for a Dell which is a surprise...

Yes, they are pretty good. Got mine in December and it works well. Don't care much for Win8 but this baby will game at very high fps. Its fast enough with a 5400rpm drive but am looking at an ssd to add. Sice its a Dell, that will be a pain but that is a story reserved for another thread. Got it same day pick-up at Best Buy for $849 and am very happy with the price/performance ratio.

    Hello gilles63000,

I am from Dell Social Media and Community.

To create system recovery disc with Dell utility, you need to update all the Microsoft windows updates.
Only then it will allow you to create the back up disc.

If this has not helped you or if you need any further assistance, feel free to message me on Twitter(@NiranjanatDell). I will be happy to assist.

I just bought a 17R 5720, how are they? I am hoping I didn't buy a bad machine, I picked it out of many in the outlet, good specs, no discrete graphics card on it though. I hope that posting in this thread was the right thing to do. I didn't want to start my own thread asking basically the same thing, only about the 5720. I love my old second gen 17R 7110, it's a great PC, but worry it's about to bite the bullet so I saw this model on sale for about as much as I paid for my 7110 and I decided to jump on it. Thank you in advance for any feedback!

Do these come with 1 hard drive space?
Also if you choose 1080p screen, is it the same screens as the SE?
