After alot of arguing with Dell I agreed to send in my laptop to have the LCD replaced.

    I had a LG WXGA+ 14.1" screen (Vostro 1400)

I now have a SEC3157 WXGA Matte Screen

How the hell did they manage to do that?

Not only that, but I can't find any information ona SEC3157 14.1" screen - I just see those used as WXGA+ 15.4" screens.

Oddly enough, I like the matte display better than the True Life one.

Should I contact Dell and request compensation??
This is starting to get out of hand -_-

I believe the wxga+ is 1440x900, there is a bit of difference since the wxga is only 1280x800. I'd get it exchanged? Also, check your nvidia monitor to see if it is actually wxga, just because the brand changed doesn't mean it's any different.

What do you mean wxga+ screens has issues tho? You don't always get an lg if that's what you are getting at.

No, what he's getting at is they gave him the wrong resolution.

Anyway, I don't know, if you like the new screen, keep it... if you don't, then send it back and tell them to give you the screen resolution you ordered... or return it.

If you don't want to send the laptop back, you may be able to get them to send you a screen to install yourself.

btw how is the SEC screen, quality-wise?

I really like this screen over the last two I had except for the obvious resolution difference. No grain, very minimal light leakage, 'good-enough' viewing angles, but the resolution is not what I wanted it to be.

I have a feeling Dell is going to make me send the notebook back in again so they can fix their mistake and not compensate me for it.

I really like this notebook, but these problems are really starting to piss me off!

    UPDATE:

Upon chatting with Dell Technical Support, they told me that I have to talk to Customer Service because I could not possibly have a SEC3157 WXGA matte display when according to their computers the SEC3157 is WXGA+ True-Life (which would be true if I had a Vostro 1500/Inspiron 1520/30)...

The Level 1 Tech told me that he asked a Level 2 tech and they told him to tell me to talk to Customer Care.

What the hell is that? argh!

    its a WXGA - 1280x800 max.

    My original screen was a WXGA+. 1440x900

no offense but I'm started to feel like I'm talking to Dell employees on this board... I've only explained myself THREE times in this post....
