I do NOT plan on overclocking one bit.
-
163.11... laptopvideo2go.com..look in the forums section
-
No overclocking?
Then 163.16 or 162.50 -
I don't want to mess up my computer -
Well you don't know which one is newer
The higher the version number DOES NOT mean it's newer...
Like 160.03 was released 2 weeks AFTER 165.01 <_<
nVidia drivers are very tricky, especially for mobile version. They do not release any mobile versions, they only release desktop versions. Luckily, they are practically the same with the exception of some "INF" changes which is up to the laptop manufacturers. The thing is, most laptop manufacturers don't really care about keeping up to date, especially when nVidia releases them so often.
Furthermore, nVidia doesn't really provide changelogs to the public so it's hard to tell from just experience, but the major difference is 162.50 is WHQL certified. The problem is, it isn't WHQL certified for your card and you'd loose the WHQL technically, but some people see that as meaning more stable. 163.16 has been reported as having some of the best performance out there, especially with the new modded INF released by laptopvideo2go.com just a couple of days ago -
Well then I'll go with the 162.5.
I was looking at the list via date so I knew what I was talking about -
Sorry to threadjack but anyone wanna comment on a recommendation for a driver if you DO want to oc?
-
I believe the first one mentioned is best for that purpose
-
158.36 for overclocking
162.22 or 163.16 for people who don't want to.
Bigger numbers do not mean newer/better as was stated earlier.
Why are there a billion threads about what drivers to use? -
all the drivers (163.11, .16, etc.) for me wont keep the color setting i manually set after i restart or wake the computer from sleep, or play games. this kinds sucks--is there a fix for this?
So for my Vostro 1400 with an 8400M GS...what's the best driver?
