    Dell 1210M
Well so far things look like this...
Order Processing: Wednesday, August 09, 2006
    X Pre-production: Wednesday, August 09, 2006
    X In Production:
    X Kitting
    X Build
    X Testing
    Boxing <--- Blue Hyperlinked
Shipping Prep: Thursday, August 17, 2006 <-- greyed out
Estimated Ship Date: Thursday, August 17, 2006<--grey out

    X = A check mark
Is it in testing phase? Or is it in boxing phase since there is a checkmark under Testing and Boxing is Hyperlinked.. ? Its been under boxing all day, so how long does boxing take if its that? Its seemed to me that it was just sittin on boxing today .... all day.. lol
Also, what days of the week does dell work, Mon-Fri? Im sure it wont get shipped till monday, but wondering if dell works 7 days a week...

It took mine 4 days to be boxed???? Then it took me 5 seconds to realize they shipped the wrong computer once I got it unboxed! Finally got it sent back and got a FULL Refund after a week of phone calls and emails. I was planning to just reorder, but since Dell stopped all of the good coupons, I decided to look around and I am going to order a computer from PowerNotebooks.com based on the Compal HGL30. Goodluck though, I considered the M1210 ( was looking at refurbs) however I decided I would prefer the 14" screen.

I'm not trying to sound mean or anything, but this question has been asked a million times.

Boxing stage takes around 3 business days because your laptop is being shipped from Malaysia to Tennessee. All of the laptops are made in Malaysia, so it takes time to get them back here which is commonly known as the boxing stage.

Yes, your laptop is in the boxing stage. I'm not sure if Dell works 7 days or not. This is the problem if you want a customize laptop - you have to be patient and wait for it.

Here's an excellent account of how the laptops are created and put into our hands:

It's a little old, but I'd imagine the system is only more amazing now than before. Pretty wild what technology can do (and their numbers are even more stunning)!

The dates are estimates but are completely wrong. From the day I ordered it to the day it arrived was 8 consecutive days!!!

PDXLOU: Wasn't it cool? That plane was amazing - to think how many computers a day they are cranking out and flying over...it's wild!

airforceone: I've always had great experiences with their shipping. For smaller items (printer, ink, software, etc.) I get it usually with one day (or at longest, two). Computers have always been faster than the original estimate too (unfortunately, not the one day turnaround though...hehe). Since they fly laptops back to the USA 6 days a week...hoping mine touched down by today...should mean it'll get out asap.

Because their Small Business and Home/Home Office divisions are separate, I wonder if they have different distributions set up at all: When I order toner for my color laser, if I order by 11pm...I can get the ink NEXT DAYed to me and it's at my doorstep the following morning. Pretty cool!
