What is the best kind of ram you can put in it?

    Is there a big difference between DDR2 800mhz and DDR3 1066mhz?

Would upgrading to 8GB in the future make a huge impact?

The best RAM for the Dell Studio 15 would be two sticks of 4GB DDR2 at 800.

The main thing about 8GB is the ability to reserve a huge amount of cache space and still having a large chunk free. That extra cache space will result in better performance than having a 4GB and a solid state.

From reading online, you would not notice much of a difference unless its DDR3 1300 or better.

I am not sure how quickly memory drops, but right now two sticks of 4GB might set you back between 300 and 400 dollars. I might upgrade in a year give or take when games that take advantage of 64bit start coming out. (By advantage, I mean the game has something in 64bit, game-play wise, that is not possible in 32bit).
