    So long Dell Bloatware

    So, after bout 2 weeks with my m1530, I finally did a clean install last night.

    Before the clean install, with all my music, programs, pictures, etc, I had about 40 GB of free space...

    After the clean install, with all the same data back on my system, I still have 85GB of free space...

    45 GB of Bloat, recovery partition, and God knows what else...

    wow...

    wow, which guide did you follow?

    were there any problems in clean installing?

    have you decided to keep media direct?

    yeah there is a lot of bloatware but i would keep the backup partition

    ... remember system restore uses 15% of your hard disk.

    worked without any problems, and from step one to installing the last driver, it maybe took 2 hours. Vista installs really quickly compared to install XP on my last machine.

    I did keep Media Direct. I am a college student and it is pretty handy when I'm at home away from my home theater set up.

    I went ahead and ditched the recovery partition. I keep a backup of my files on a portable HD, and if I have a serious problem, I'll just clean install again. Its worth the time for the extra storage space
