It costs $2500 for the configuration I want, whereas it used to cost barely above $2000. I can't really justify it anymore, much as I love the screen and the weight and the battery life. Ugh, Dell.

You might get a better deal if you call them instead. They're raising prices because demand is so great and that also lead to longer wait times. They may compensate you if you're willing to wait that long as well.

Also, check out any coupons they might have online at NBR or search for "Dell Coupon Codes" on google or something.

There aren't any coupons out right now. There's a dedicated tab for Dell Coupons at the top right.

yeah... that's waaay too expensive for a low-spec m1330, you can get a cheaper one with better specs even without coupons.

imo for the specs the 1330 comes with even brand new from dell its way overpriced.. i dont see where the hype is about it.. maybe if it had better components in it... but i just dont see it.. you can get a beter system in a 1400 or 1420 for way less, i guess if you need it that small

I'll have to assume you're talking USD (not CAD) and if that's the case, it's probably partially tied in to the dollar's recent drop. We can't forget that all the components, incl. chaisis, are made elswhere and Dell may have to compensate.

The price in the EU market (at least in the German-speaking sector) has actually fallen a bit. when I first had a look at a 1330 "online" back in July, it listed for €1,800.-* ($2,430 @1:1.35 fx) and the same configuration** now lists for €1,730.-* ($2,420.- @ 1:1.40 fx) Not a big change, particularly when view in USD, but none the less, a change in the other direction (as opposed to U.S. prices).

I of course managed to talk Dell down a little bit, but consumer businesses in (Western) EU Countires don't really "haggle" as such, and a 5-15% discount is as much as one can expect to get. Bottom line, I managed to get my 1330 for $2,050.- before taxes. If it makes you (read: Floridians and other States that still enjoy sub-10% sales taxes) feel better, that's $2,460.- after tax...

*EU prices are almost always shown with "Value Added Taxes" included and we are talking about a 20% sales tax!!!

    [edit] **see sig for specs

I know - wild, ain't it! I'm planning to buy USD (with €) now for my vacation in Fl. next July 'cause I can't imagine the USD will sink much lower...

Notice it has a 3 yr warranty.
I just configured one with the warranty (and with a T7100 btw) and it came out to $2403 before tax.

Further, the performance difference between the T7300 (2.0ghz) and T7500 (2.2ghz) is like the difference between crunchy and extra crunchy peanut butter.

Don't get me wrong, i'll take extra crunchy over normal crunchy any day...unless $100+ difference.

The US dollar didn't drop, the Canadian dollar rose. So it's still the same price for Dell to buy something from countries other than Canada. Furthermore, most retailers aren't changing their prices at all when US and Canadian dollar reached parity. That's why so many Canadians are travelling to the US to buy stuff.
