    I just got a dell i6000

    1.6 ghz
    1 gig of memory
Im not sure what kind of graphics card i have, it obviously sucks though, it wouldnt let me upgrade it.

I got this laptop a few days ago and i tried to install medal of honor, wich would play on my old desktop easily, wich was a crappy hp. It installed, but it wouldnt play. Then i tried mafia, wich ran fine on my old desktop, but it doesnt play on this one.

So what games can i play on this laptop? Minesweeper?

an integrated video card solution greatly limits the games you can play. anything that requires 3d rendering will probably not work.

if you want to game, you need to return the notebook and get the x300 128 meg video card.

99% of notebooks do not allow you to upgrade the video card

Yep. If you want to play any games besides the built-in Windows ones, then return the notebook and get the 128MB ATI x300 gpu. Dell has a 14 day return policy on their notebooks.

You can play 3D rendered games with built in graphics, just not the power hungry games. I have no problem playing games like rise of nations on my 700m machine which comes with 64mb on board.

To say you can limit yourself to only games that come with windows is a bit far fetched. the 128 on board graphics can do a bit. my 64mb on the 700m can do enough to keep me happy.

Otherwise I just use my desktop, or my 9300 with the 6800 card in it to play games.

I have a question. I have the Inspiron 9300, 256 Nvidia 6800 go, 17"Truelife screen, Centrino M 1.73, I gig ram, 100g w/5400rpm. My question is regarding to games being played. Does the speed of the hard drive effect games that are played? Ex: Battlefeild Vietnam is not able to play. Thanks

To get a mild boost, go into the Intel graphics properties -> 3D settings -> set "Driver Memory Foootprint" to "High".

Most games released pre-2002 should be OK - I have an X1 (1.1Ghz CPU) and play the following:

UT2k4 @1280x768 with everything on lowest detail and it's just about playable.

Colin McRae Rally 2 - runs really well on max settings @1024x768

Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast - smooth as you like full details @1024x768 on my machine

Neverwinter Nights - runs fine @1280x768 medium settings with the odd dropped frame, but gameplay isn't affected

Freelancer - runs fine full details @1024x768 clocked @ 600Mhz.

HL2, MoH and CoD are all too choppy though, tried loads of tweaking and still couldn't get any joy.

Don't look at MB to determine if it's a good graphics card or not - some borrow memory from ram, and if you do get the X300 get it from small business - they have a seperate model so you don't have to max out the settings just the get the card.

Also, pay the extra $50 for the 1.73 ghz proc, the jump from 400 - 533 helps a lot even if you don't upgrade the ram
