So it's official.. I wouldn't have money to spend for a computer until September the earliest. The question I'd like to ask here is this: if I really decide to buy then, what new products (if any) should I expect from Dell? Merom laptops or just lower prices for current models? Tell me what you think. :)

edit: edited for... grammar?

I doubt they will have any new models. There is a possibility Dell will start putting Core 2 Duos in their notebooks by then.

Does anyone know if Dell will offer better deals than the 30% off on $999+ on their XPS 1210 anytime this summer? I know it just came out, but just curious.

Special thanks for the replies. Say, if Dell chooses to put Meroms in the I6400 by then, what are the possibilities of the X1600 (be it crippled with 128MB video memory or not) being an option? I wouldn't be gaming a lot, but hey, it'll still be nice to have a faster GPU.

nobody knows what future deals are gonna look like. manufacturers like to keep a tight lid on that so everyone does all order at the cheapest time. If you really want it and got the money, take the 30% discount, don't keep waiting and waiting or you'll never get anything.

It's been said in the forums that, if a new non-intergated gpu is offered later in the exact same model Dell notebook you have, it's likely possible to upgrade to it. So, if you get a X1400-based one now and a few months down the line an X1600 configuration is possible, you can probably pay to get the new chip.

Yes I am struggling with this as well. I am ready to pull the trigger on a m1210 but now that it seems Intel is bringing the Merom out faster than expected I may wait a month...

I agree. So long as Dell keeps slinging around those $750 coupons, it wouldn't be so bad if you missed out on a 30% deal. Unless you want an XPS or Latitue instead, then better to strike while the deal's hot or risk not seeing some comparable one for a little while.

You see, you're from America. We Canadians don't get those coupons here. Tough luck for us I guess.

The Inspiron 6400 supports MXM modules? Could you give me a link that proves this? I'm intrigued. :)

it ****ing sucks doesn't it. americans can just max all their upgrades, while still paying less than us who are stuck with the base.

There will be no coupons for the XPS notebooks; only for Inspirons.

At least you have universal health care. People in the US can buy cheaper computers but many can't afford to see a doctor. Think positive!
