Yeah, i used that $500 off coupon. I built the system to $1287 and it took off the $500 in the cart. I feel so good, i can't wait to get it!! I've been pondering over this purchase for months! I don't know if anyone else is like me, but i've always wanted to buy one, but just didn't pull the trigger because i just hate to part with large amounts of money!! (plus, i'm newly married so i had other more important obligations!) But i decided the $500 deal was too good to pass up! I had an IBM Thinkpad R40 Pentium 4 for about 4 years when the screen suddenly crapped out on me. So my wife and i have been sharing this old Compaq Armada Pentium 3 with 512 mb of Ram for the past few months(i gave it to her as a gift when she was in college). Boy, that thing is dog slow and i knew it was time to give it up when she bought the Sims 2 game and it wouldn't even run hardly, so i knew we needed something else. Before i was seeing the Vostro 1500 for $549 and $579, but in order to stay within a reasonable budget, i would have to pass on some of the great upgrades and get a pretty base config. Now, with this deal, i got all of the good upgrades for a reasonable price! I may get her another laptop too (she likes the pink cases) at a reasonable price.

I tried to call the Dell reps and order over the phone. I asked for a quote and he asked me what i had priced out on the internet. His quote was the exact same, he wasn't trying to budge and seemed kinda stiff to talk to. I called another rep and he said that he couldn't do anything either because the system is already low with the $500 off and they can't really do anything else with that promo. So, i just went on ahead and ordered it online. The rep did tell me that the deal would probably be over by tomorrow.

Generally, Dell releases new promos every Thursday, so thats probably what the rep was basing it on. That being said, looks like you got an awesome deal. Congratulations (on your new lappy and your marriage)!!
