According to the engadget, the inspiron 1535 is being launched tomorrow: http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/08/dell-inspiron-1435-1535-and-1735-leaked/ Can this news be trusted? i wanted to order an xps m1530 last week but because of this launch, i decided to have a little patience...if it actually is released tomorrow, will i be able to place an order on tuesday? and will this be released in the U.S first coz i'm based in the U.K..and i will need the lappy in 1 month..will it be delivered on time? if it contains an integrated graphics, then i'll go for the xps m1530 :D

I was just thinking about that. There hasn't been any news about the new inspirons since that initial leak. I'm deciding on my laptop here soon and the new inspirons look sharp.

Yeah I'm still deciding what I want out of a laptop. I have a 360 and a nice lcd I'm taking with me to college but it would be nice to have a gaming laptop also. Of course I'm losing battery by not having an integrated graphics chip. Its hard to decide.

my guess is it will be a US first release - that's what happened with the Insp. 1520/1720 and 1525. plus the US even have the Insp. 1420 which the UK has never seen (ie there's no guarantee it will be coming to the UK at all)

it does look immensely cool; but if i were you i would wait until "shortly after launch" when they intro the edge-to-edge glass display option. if that means nothing to you go look at the XPS One.

According to that Engadget article, the highest CPU you can get on a 1535 is a T5850 (2.16Ghz)? Yuk.

i will wait and see. if this is the case, then i can conclude that the m1530 is my best bet :D ..there won't be much of a difference between the xps and the new inspirons

    What is an XPS One?

Dell needs to up the anty. Acer has already overtaken them in notebook sales, and we still aren't see laptops pre-shipped with Vista SP1? If they don't have a XPS 1330/1530 refresh (AT LEAST!!!! A new design would be nice) by end of July beginning of August for the huge number of uni students and professionals who buy round that time, then they are going to lose a lot of market share.

Don't mean to be an alarmist or conspiracist or anything, but does anyone else believe that this could possibly be a hoax? I'm not saying I believe it is, just that its possible. I hope its true. It's May 26 2008 and its not showing up on Dell's website...but the new 1525 is still there.

Maybe they mean it'll officially be unveiled and become available for sale at a later date. If you don't see any articles pop up between today and tomorrow about the 1535 appearing in the dell support section then most likely it was too good to be true.

Though I also knew about the leak, I wasn't hoping for much come today. Maybe they will update by tonight?

I am starting to think that it was just a hoax not only because it's not out yet but also because the "new" Inspirons are mentioned nowhere on Dell's support sites. Usually when a new Dell laptop is about to be released, at least their names can be found weeks in advance on Dell's support sites in driver descriptions and so on.

I'm still hoping I'm wrong though because these notebooks seem perfect for my needs and they look really nice, not too flashy but not boring-looking either.

Well to be fair if you type in 1535 in the search bar on Dell's website it does pop open an adapter of somesort that is compatible with both the 1525/1526 and the 1535/1536, so you have to wonder?

The XPS One is Dell's answer to the iMac. Basically it's an all-in-one, but with a lot of the cool features us XPS users have come to love (capacitive touch buttons, slot-loading Blu-Ray drives, etc.)

The reason I bought it up is it uses an "edge-to-edge glass display" option. That basically means there's absolutely no bezel around the screen - it's just a big piece of rectangular glass, and it's all flat and shiny.

And that, apparently, is going to be an option on this missing 1535.

One big rectangular glass display eh? Sounds like quality for a future XPS than Inspiron.

Well I think because people are complaining XPS isn't really a "gaming" line anymore, they're making more of the fancy features like that available for the Inspiron line - except, of course, discrete graphics cards :(

According to that Engadget leak the 1535 will (read: was supposed to)

"Bring elements of Dell's premium XPS lineup into reach of mainstream consumers."

Although, we've already seen the leak was a little less than accurate...

I'm pretty sure they will still include good midrange cards like the successor to the 8600GT and all, just not 8800M GTX or anything that would threaten their Aliendware.

My guess is that Studio will be primarily revolving around multimedia with high processor and storage options, though no high end graphics card. The selling point will be the design probably.

    Perhaps...
    XPS- high end premium line
    Inspiron- budget line
Studio- multimedia and design line that falls between XPS and Inspiron

Choose between the inspiron... or the the Studio which has an illuminated keyboard!

You know something, Atleast XPS One does not come with laptop chips in them like the iMac.

that thing is basically a laptop on a stand.

Well I can't speak for neither of them, but I am most likely going to get a 1530 before summers end. From what I've read though, that 1530 is pretty reliable, so is the MBP. It's all a matter of personal preference really.

this would make sense. I'm a perfect example of someone who would buy this. I am a bit of a gadgetfreak and poweruser, I just don't play games so don't need the dedicated graphics. The only thing I wonder is how a line can fit between the inspiron and Xps. In the Netherlands there's only about a €150 ($220) difference between the inspiron and XPS so I would expect to see a big overlap in pricerange.

You have got to be sh!tting me....I can't believe it's true. The world sure is changing...now where's that 1535.

People are saying around October for the 1530 refresh, it'll have Centrino 2 AKA Monteniva components, mainly reduced chipset, support for DDR 3 memory, the works.

the montevina processors are delayed by one month because of wifi problems and the integrated graphics problems. delayed to july 14, dell probably knew this beforehand, so better off buying m1530 for now unless u want to wait lets see 5 MONTHS!!!!!! inspiron 1535 not coming till late july or august unless DELL decides to sell without montevina options.
