So, uh why does my Vostro 1400 beep at random?

So they replaced my entire motherboard, and fan on my 1400, due to other problems.

Yet it still beeps intermittently. Why? It's an internal sound which is why it worries me. :(

Hmm, maybe something isnt hooked in all the way or a loose connection inside. not sure. If you know how, open it up and check cords, if not- call Dell.

It is at random. Well I'm using firefox.

It's more like a shrill beep. So it could be a HDD problem? Greeeeeeattttt

Well, if it's like the MacBook example I posted above, then yes, it is most likely the hard drive.

To make sure it is the hard drive, disable the internal Beep device first. I'm not sure how to disable the Internal Beep in Vista, but in XP, it is something like this:

Right-click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware. Click on Device Manager. Go to View -> Show hidden devices. Under Non Plug-and-Play Drivers, there should be a device called Beep. Right-click Beep -> Properties. Go to the Driver Tab, click stop on the Device, and then select Disabled on Startup Type. Restart.

I get beeps while using GIMP, but it's just for when I try to backspace text when there's nothing left, or the like. In your case, it's a little more scary, but if you're not getting any problems.......
