I need my laptop soon, like by the end of next week. What are the chances that I will be able to get a replacement that soon?

    Whoops, wrong forum. Please move.

Unfortunately, time is more important than the money. I may just cancel. Are there any good companies that build computers within a week and a half?

Buy a refurb from Dell. They ship quick, and they're cheap.

Dell refurb might work, and some other companes, such as Apple, might be able to get it to you in that timespan. But this might be the time to head over to Best Buy/Micro Center/wherever and see what they have. You can get those the same day.

Lucky for you guys DHL and UPS lost your computers. When I bought my 700m it arrived after I left for school so my dad shipped it to me through the US postal service, he even paid the extra money for insurance. The computer never arrived (I never even saw it :( ). One year and about 30 phone calls later I ended up with a check for about 50% of the value of the computer.
To sum it all up, never ship anything important through the USPS.

Only a fool would ship a high value product USPS.

Their tracking system is reason enough to not use them. They, basically, have no clue where your stuff is.

Yeah, they don't have any tracking system. They give you a tracking number but it just tells you that the package was shipped.
Also, one would think that if you had insurance it would be okay. It's not like I was shipping a family heirloom. The problem wasn't that they lost my package, that stuff happens, I can deal with that. The problem is that they didn't want to give me my insurance money even when they knew it was their falut.

When I ordered my HP dv9000 on Dec 18 2006 (through Costco) I got it on the Dec 21 2006.

I guess you could also just go into a store and buy one off the shelf : /

It sounds like someone stole it. It was delivered on the first day, but I wasn't there to receive it. They took it back... and it disappeared! Wow, how did that happen?

Well, this is great. I guess I'll just have to drop hundreds more dollars on a company that doesn't use freaking DHL.
