Two days later they email back saying they are sorry about the delay, and that they upgraded me to next day air. Wen I placed the order, I opted to pay for the 2nd day shipping.
My confirmation showed estt ship date as 8/6, with delivery date as 8/8.
So, after I get the email stating that they upgraded me to next day, I go and check my order status. Still says est. ship date as 8/6, but now it says delivery 3-5 day with arrival date as 8/9-13...
So it appears instead of upgrading me to next day(from 2nd day) I have been downgraded to 3-5 day...grrrrrrrrrrrr
Needless to say I have emailed back, and will call if I dont receive a speedy reply.

I was told I was given an upgrade to Next day Shipping but my order status lists it as standard, however I am chatting with a dell rep right now to figure out why this is so.

they told me the exact same thing...
me: "so i should be getting it soon right?"
rep: "yes, soon... i gave you next day shipping"
me: "really? thanks"
i went to check my status and look, it says 3-5day shipping. -
Next day doesn't do anything for you . It's just something they give you so that you will leave them alone . Most of them time it will still arive ground !

Next day does get the laptop to you faster...once it is with the carrier.

it does help if it is actually true. i think most rep just say that so the customes would feel better and leave them alone.

Next day from DHL has worked well with me...more so than all of the other carriers. I guess it depends on where you live and who is serving you.

I checked with dell, the first time the guy was BSing, the second time apparently the guy was telling the truth as the third person I talked to backed it up, I am not talking to a 4th rep and I am simply going to ask what my shipping method is listed as to see if all 3 were BSing me.

dell reps are conspiring against us all! I had a bad encounter with one yesterday who told me that he can't give me anymore information about my order status other than what the dell.com online order status tells me. I told him that he works for dell, I don't, which means he should have more information than me! Then I told him that he is talking my problems in circles! He didn't help me one bit! He just kept insisting on ending the conversation. Jerk.

FINALLY! my order status lists my shipping as Next Business Day, and it only took 4 different reps to get it straight. By the time I got to the last rep they were wondering why I had talked to 3 other Reps about the same subject in a 2 hour span.. so I informed her that I was lied to three times by 3 reps and something actually got done, and now I apparently actually have Next Business Day Shipping.
Also I ran into the same thing, I found a rep who couldnt tell me ANYTHING about my order status, not even if it was in production or what. He also happened to be one of the guys who BSed about next day shipping. -
nah it just seems that way the delay is like that because it all depends on when the shipping carrier gets your pc from dell, it'll only be 1 day from when they get it.
the estimate just became more honed is all
