    Socket M Dell Inspiron or Latitude Laptops

    Hello Fellows

    I was wondering and trying to find a list of Dell Laptops that would accept a Socket M Processor , I have a Intel T6400 Processor and was wondering which laptops will it fit in any help will be much appreciated

    Well Socket M typically uses the Intel 945(PM/GM) chipsets, so work backwards. Find some models in your range and check out the documentation owner manuals(at support.dell.com or google search)...it should list the system chipset under specifications. Once you find them, double check by googling some more(google the laptop for a mention of the socket or check the processors that came with it).

    Also depending on your needs, if might be better to sell the processor and save up for a new laptop. For example, laptops of that era aren't known for their gaming capabilities(compared to newer laptops), so even if you find one, don't expect much gaming wise.

    T6400 is Socket P. You can use anything with a 965 or 45 series chipset. I don't really remember what all the Inspirons with the relevant chipsets are, but for Latitudes anything that's Dx30 or Exx00 should work... though the BIOS might not necessarily like it (see the thread about the guy with a T7500 in a 1545).
