I've been reading a lot of complaints on the volume of Dell Studio's speakers being barely audible. One of the ways to solve this problem is to uninstall the original IDT sound card driver provided by Dell. But I realised that one of the headphone jacks on the Studio will no longer function if you uninstall the driver. So, let me present you guys with another simply solution that works (I hope). Make sure you've the IDT driver installed on your system.

    1. Right click on the volume icon in the taskbar and select "Playback Devices".

    2. Right click on the "Speakers/ Headphones" option and select "Properties".

    3. Go to the "Enhancements" tab and check the "Disable all enhancements" tab. Click "OK".

    4. Now you're done. Enjoy the louder volume of your speakers! Cheers! :)

ps89......... checked that it was using the IDT driver, tried what you said and it didn't make any difference.

The only enhancement being used was the bass, and disabling it there was no noticable difference in the volume.

You need to check the 'disable all enhancements' option for it to work.

Cool. This works very well. Thanks. =)

    EDIT:

Um...does anyone else have this option? The "PC Speaker" volume was almost all the way down. I turned it up and WOW, what a huge difference. Apparently the PC Speaker volume is independent from the master volume.

    wow..thanks alot guys..
i tried that on my dell studio 1535..
it works..now it sounds louder even without windows default driver..
just ensure that disable all enhancements is chosen and the pc speaker is set to 100..then,it's fine to live with idt driver.. :)

yes, that what I did but it didn't make any difference. I was just saying that before I checked the "disable all enhanements" box the only enhancement selected was the bass.

I appreciate your help but it didn't work for me.

    sensible..
did you try to increase the volume of pc speaker as shown by Johnbyebye as well?
i think this is the main factor that makes the speaker louder..
    it works to my laptop..

This fix worked great for me! My studio is now 3 times louder than before. I disabled all enhancements and turned the PC Speaker all the way up. I don't know which setting did it or if it was a combination of the 2, but now I'm happy... :notworthy:
