I just got my new E1505 so not only am I getting used to my first laptop I'm also trying to learn how to navigate Vista (Premium). Ever since I first turned it on I'm getting an error message saying the Sonic Solutions DLA Driver is not compatible with Vista and it has disabled it, since this came on the computer wouldn't you think it would work? Bottom line is though is how do I go about fixing it?

And I also had it once disable Aero Glass saying some program prevented it from running but I reinabled it and so far so good.

I turned off User Accounts because it seemed to be a nuisance, does this need to be turned on? If not is there a way to keep it from reminding me it's off?

I downloaded several Gadgets and one of them was a CPU meter which shows me using 60% to 70% of my Ram, I know Vista is a memory hog but is this possible? I could only afford 1GB of Ram but I'm now thinking I need more.

I'm not too sure about the Sonic DLA, though I might know a little more when I upgrade to Vista (well, dual-boot) shortly).

UAC is okay to turn off...I do agree that is a headache. In all my time with the Beta versions it never bugged me once I turned it off. The problem is that now you're slightly at risk for viruses and other nasties, but that's a risk I'm willing to take as long as 3rd party security software is installed.

60-70% of RAM for a 1GB Vista machine is not bad. A lot of that is Vista anticipating your needs for programs, so it preloads them while you aren't looking (so to speak). As long as you do not have any noticeable slowdowns you're fine. A lot of testers (whose Vista reports I've read) and a lot of people here have 1GB right now and are fine.

which Vista do you have? If it's Vista Ultimate then I definitely recommend 2GB.
AS for Sonic, most likely there is either no 64bit dirver or it could be a faulty driver. Try searching for a new one a try it, perhaps that will fix it. If not let us know.

Okay I found a solution for the driver at the Dell Forum. Dell must have installed Roxio Creater DE Version 9 would this be a trial version or a full version they just threw in?

Several Things were installed by Dell that are running at Startup, can you tell me what each is and whether I should keep it from running at startup, or leave as is:

    1. Synaptic Po...
    2. Macrovision (it's listed twice)
    3. E Center...
    4. Cyberlink Po...
    5. Dell Support...
    6. Digital Line D...
    7. Install Shield...

    Hi,

All you have to do is remove the program - Roxio Drag & Drop from the Add/Remove program in Control Panel and then you won't get this error.
