I just bought this Inspiron 7559 on Sunday. So far haven't quite started using it fully. And I've read about a lot of problems and probable solutions before buying. But so far for the last 5 days things with 7559 are going okay with me. So, then I got some questions to ask about tweaking/upgrding. Sorry, but that 199 Page Dell 7559 thread just made me lost. So, I am putting some questions here. I guess very basic level questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Saw a video youtube about upgrading SSD and RAM. Seemed very easy though. But I like to know -
1.a. It will support only M2 SATA III along with the 5400 HDD?
1.b. Any better SSD suggested rather than the common SAMSUNG 850 EVO with a little price hike may be?
1.c. According to Intel, the chip supports DDR4-2133, LPDDR3-1866, DDR3L-1600. So, can try any one of them totally replacing the stock RAM?

    2. Heard a lots of comments about screen. Mine so far seems okay (I am not a GeeeeK.). But still -
2.a. How can I check which panel I got? Seems they also ship a better version sometimes
2.b. If I even buy one then I will go for a touchscreen. Please suggest one with price-performance ratio.

    3. Now this time I am going with some OS issues. I am totally new to Win 10 so -
3.a. This version of W10 is activated? So, if I fresh install a downloaded version, I'm loosing the activation?
3.b. Or If I just throw away W10 and get back to W7, how is the driver support?
3.c. Lotza driver issues. Should I update (OS/NVIDIA/others) to the latest or not?
3.d. Somehow I can resize volume. Not from "Disk Management" nor using "Easeus Parition Manager". Easeus gave a error at 20% while disk management says something like "not enough space"

Thank you to all who supports.

1a - Yes, the laptop will support a m.2 drive and a 2.5 sata drive at the same time just fine.
1b - The fastest m.2 that I know is the Samsung 950 Pro m.2 NVME.
    1c - The ram is DDR3L. DDR4 wont work.

2 - Some 7559's came with a BOE panel and some an LG panel. The LG to me lacks brightness but colors look great. The opposite on the BOE.
2a - HWINFO64 will give you that information.
2b - The touchscreen is only avail with the 4K panel. The 4K panel isn't friendly for the 960M if you plan to game at 4K. This is up to your preference.

3a - It should install just fine once you get into windows and the computer connects to the internet. It should activate itself.
    3b - I personally can't say anything for this since I haven't done so.
3c - What do you mean?

many thnx for your reply. I gave up hope that someone will ever reply.

    1. Understood. Will try SAMSUNG 850 EVO M.2 for now. 950 Pro seems too expensive atm. And will stick with DDR3 1600MHz RAM now.

    2. I will not play games in 4k. But just I'm looking for a good touchscreen to work in Win10. Can you suggest a good one please?

    3. I will skip this part for now. Only, the thing you didn't understand is that I can't resize the master partition less than 500GB with native or 3rd party app. Even tried disk defrag before doing so.

AFAIK the 7559 CANNOT use NVM PCIE M.2 drives like the 950 Pro. M.2 SATA drives like the EVO line will work well.

If you have access to another computer you can get disk cloning software and create a bootable USB stick with the cloning software. Boot from it before doing anything. Clone the HDD to your new EVO SSD and remove the HDD or just set the boot drive to the SSD and leave the HDD in place for extra storage.

I rarely ever do a fresh install. I prefer to deal with removing any junk from the manufacturers build to installing from scratch. Your choice of course.
