    1. What's the warranty like? Is it the same as the new ones? Is one year warranty the standard?

    2. Dent/Scratch or Certified Refurbished? Which one's better?

    3. Is the battery replaced w/ a new one in the Certified Refurbished? or the refurbishing process does not include replacing the battery?

I've never ordered used/scratched laptops and don't know if those are good deals :S

Thanks a lot for your help!

    1. Warranty is the same that you'd get if you bought it new (1yr on mine), and you can extend it just like if you bought it new.
    2. I've only bought one computer from the outlet (a refurb), so I couldn't say which one is better.
    3. They didn't offer any specific information about which parts were new and which were refurbished. If I had to guess, my suspicion would be that I got the one that came with it originally (unless it was the battery that needed refurbishing.)

I really can not tell that my laptop wasn't brand new. I'm not sure why it was refurbished, but it seems to work great now. And I saved about $500 bucks on it, so that certainly works!

They also have "new returned", which is what mine was/is. Returned, never used for whatever reasons.

Refurb here, looking at it you'd swear it was brand new.

I've bought two laptops from the outlet and am completely satisfied. Both were previously purchased as new, an E1505 and a D620. I saved enough to buy my daughter a pretty nice E1405.

The one I have is scratch & dent, there is only a small scrach on the lid. But, I can't notice it till I look for it cause it's so small. Nothing else is wrong with it and I'm happy.

Yeah, things in the Dell outlet move pretty quickly, so if you see something you really like, I'd try to snag it ASAP.

I just got my cert. referb. in today and all i can say is it looks and runs like a brand new computer. Dont sweat the outlet, and if by chance you some how get a bad laptop you always have that 21 day return policy!
But to your questions the waranties are the same as a new system, scratch and dent is a better deal if you want to take that chance,(most people can't find the scratch r dent). And for the battery i'd expect dell to only change it if there were originally something wrong with it. Good luck and be quick, when you see what you want there grab it because it wont be there for long.

Things do move very quickly in the outlet. If you see one put it in your cart, you have 15 min after you put something your cart before it goes back out. I had one in my cart I wanted and was to the last check out point and backed out. Within about an hour I regretted it and couldn't find another configured/priced like what I had picked out. Kept refreshing the page for probabky over an hour and one finally popped back up, I snagged it...Happy ending.
