Just got my dell and have a few small questions. Have the inspiron6000 and I was wondering where the battery life is displayed, and also how do you charge the battery, just have the laptop plugged in and it chargers?

There are probably multiple ways to get to the battery monitor, but the easiest on my system is the icon in the lower right corner--it looks like a power cord plug when the battery is fully charged and you're on AC power and like a battery when you're unplugged and running on the battery alone. If you click it, you'll get a dialog box that shows the battery level.

And yes, when you are plugged in and the battery is in the system it charges automatically until full.

Thank you very much, I have another quick question. Is there anyway to change to responce of the touch pad? I wish I could speed up the moving of the mouse a round a bit.

yes, you can. under the control panel, there should be either a mouse or touchpad settings where you can adjust it.

I've known there were mouse settings, but still can't find any touch pad settings.

reinstall your touchpad driver. Then go to control panel and mouse settings, you should come up with a whole section for touchpad controls.
