While picking up the mail for my currently out of town next door neighbor, I happened to notice an insert from Dell Small Business. It was quite simple and left a bit to the imagination. Not a typical catalogue with the whole product line and all sorts of "special deals", just a teaser of what's to come:

"We believe: On July 10, small business will finally get what it asked for."

This is repeated on a special website, for which a URL was provided on the insert: www.dell.com/webelieve

Key words on the flyer included important new software and hardware options among others in the small business line. While there were no particular product details, there was one muted image of a laptop opened with only the lid and corner of the keyboard shown. And although blurry, it was unmistakably the "Vostro" version of the new Inspiron line. Let me just say that from what I could make out, it exuded something of a subtle seriousness. Black all-around. Keyboard and all. Business users just may be won over by the presentation of this new line. Here's to hoping that all options offered on the Inspirons will be carried over to the small business division.

Having been previously quite critical of the design decisions by Dell for the new Inspiron line, I must say that the proposition of an all black Inspiron is an exciting one. I've became more enamored with the color options and "lines" of the Home/Home Office Inspirons since they've been released and this adds just one more lovely option to the Dell line. Here's my problem: already the 1420 is giving ship dates as late as July 31 which is beginning to cut it close for me so therefore I want to order within the next day or so. Will Dell allow me to cancel the order if not yet shipped if I ultimately decide to go with a Vostro? I believe people have indicated this isn't a problem.

In any case, hope we start to get more info on this July 10 surprise. Have fun with it.

Ah yes. Forgot about that again. I suppose that is what business users ask for. Nevertheless, I am fairly sure I did see a Vostro.

I unfortunately don't own a scanner or have access to one. But believe me when I say there was nothing to see. Except of course for the hard to make out black Inspiron "Vostro". Otherwise no info.

Black all-around...that's how I was hoping the "Jet Black" option on the Inspirion would give you. Certainly sounds tempting, but I'm also a bit pressed for time. And I doubt the cost will be really close.

My local paper finally got news about the new Inspirons on Sunday...news travels a bit slower by print than by the web.

Vostro will be out at July 10th, but I'm hoping the tablet XT will be out as well.
