So I just installed the 156.73 drivers on my inspiron 1520 but I think somewhere along the line something went wrong. I first noticed it even before I installed them. I uninstalled the old drivers (169.01 gave me trouble) and then rebooted in safe mode and used driversweeper and drivercleaner pro to clean out the drivers. I also chose to let it clean any ati files even though there should be none on my computer because I have no ati devices. There were however some ati files that both programs cleaned out. Now I have a weird thing where even though my sound works when I click it in the volume control, movies and games have no sound, and also it tells me i'm not connected to a network even though the internet is working and windows media player keeps freezing and saying media sharing is disabled. I can't even system restore earlier than the point at which i installed the drivers.

I think it's time to reinstall Windows.
    That's what I'd do.
It's faster (for me) than trying to figure out what was messed up in the registry.

Yeah I was afraid of that. I'm guessing I can do a repair and keep everything

    Try the repair.
If that doesn't work, back up what you want to keep and reinstall.
