This is the program that comes with Dell to watch/burn dvd rite? Is it required for Media Direct to work? (I have winxp MCE).

So if i reformatted my hd but left the media direct partition alone i still would haeve to reinstall this sonic program?

Last thing is this sonic program included in winxp mce cd or do i have to request it? or can i dl it from dell support cite so i dont have to request cd?

No, you don't need the program to have Media Direct working.
Can't say if the program is included on the Dell CD as my laptop came without CD's.
I saw on the Dell website you can download something related to SDM.
Can't say if it's the whole program or just an update.
With other Dell laptops I've seen, SDM comes on a separate CD.

It is not required fo MD to work. If you reformat and leave the MD parttion you will still have to install sonic. You must request the sonic cd
