Does anyone know of plans to upgrade the 700m to the Sonoma platform?

They'll get around to it, but it seems like there's no realy reason for it at the moment.

WOW... Never knew what this was till you mention that word then I COPY and pated it to Froogle and WOW 533Mhz FSB O_O

In my opinion YES they will
When? Mhmm the way CPU and stuff are marked I'd say sometime this year...
Why? Because The Athlon Turion and the DDR2 uses less energy so it may or not subsitute the loss of the extra FSB.
Including that the New P5 will come out so the Sodoma needs to be the base for Dell 700M i think.. (All-OPINION)

Any how I'm getting my 700M sometime this week... And since u mention this now I'm gonna be >_< when this comes out !!!!

    Gonna get a 9300 Next month hehe Sonoma 533Mhz maybe a Sodomize 1Ghz =P

Just my 2 cents worth but keep in mind that the Sonoma 'package' also tends to use mor ebatteyr life - the laptops that are out now w/ a Sonoma have more battery drain (Sonoma isn't just the FSB, it also incorporates PCI-e, the new Cardbus architecture, etc) I know the biggest downside to the 700m in almost all reviews is the battery life (with the standard battery) so it may get worse before it gets better.

Of course buying the bigger battery is an option to remedy this, but if you're in the market for a 700m and you're waiting because you think Sonoma is an all around improvement it may not be...

I was in the same boat - I wanted the 700m, and was comparing it to a Sony S380 (which is Sonoma based) but decided the 700m was a better option (especially because of the cost) - the Sonoma wasn't a huge performance upgrade to warrant me spending the extra money for it.

Again - just my 2 cents based on the research I did... Hopefully Dell will come up with a way to incorporate Sonoma, yet extend (or at least hold even) the standard battery life. (Although then i'd be ticked I didn't wait!) :)
