Has anyone with the 9300 dvdrw burner dw56a had problems installing the firmware update Dell has placed on their uodate site. I noticed that the firmware has come and gone at least once.

The update says that there is no drive there.

I had the same problem. I have the correct drive, but the firmware says that I have an non-compatible drive. It then lists mine, and the drive required by the firmware.... they are the same, just different order of the description.

I emailed Dell "Support" and they told me it isn't a firmware update. My guess is that they don't have dvd burners in India. I found this in more than one spot too. Turns out that Sony doesn't make burners at all but buys them from someone like liteon or something I can't remember now. If you google you can find the same firmware for the orig drive, unfortunately that don't work either. There is no real use in emailing them about this as they seem to have no real clue.
