    Hey,

Can anyone tell me what exactly what Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio Software does?

Will it improve the laptop speakers sound quality, or are you meant to plug in desktop speakers for it to improve the quality?

I just ordered my 1520 and paid the extra $20 AUD for this, thinking that it will improve the laptop speakers sound quality.

    Is it worth it?

apparently, the sound chip has something that would be activated when you get the software. personally, it's unproven so I'd be very hesitant in buying it. In a sense where laptop speakers just can't be too good, altho 20 dollars is not a high price to pay to try.

    Hmmm

Well, it activates something in the chip that makes it sound better I guess..

Although I think someone said you can only use it with the media player it includes (Creative media player), not really sure about that.

I'll be sure to right a full review of mine... No review on the www yet!, well no actual ones other than opinions from cnet..

From what I've heard/read, it's really just a modeler which runs a program to imitate surround sound and other technologies using your same soundcard (and some cpu power). For $20 it's worth a try, as it should sound better than the basic soundcard without eq'ing or anything.

Is the speaker good without it?

Generally speaking, laptop speakers are mediocre at best. They do get the job done though and with better quality than they used to. You'll notice more difference when using headphones. The base soundcard option should be alright to begin with so the software audigy can be a cool perk for the sound settings.

    WTFBBQ!!!

    ZOMG HAX!

The default RAM for the 1520 on dell AU is 4GB, but with a 1.5Ghz CPU!, Upgrade to 2.2 and get it for like 2500AUD! and 50 bucks cash off! Bah, I hate it when people do that to you... I payed 2990.. And I have to pay an 800 dollar internet bill if bigpond (My ISP) don't accept my credit request...

PR0DiGY, Have a look on the http://www.dell.com.au site.

What do you reckon of the new 1520 deal...$1999 AUD for 4GB Ram, only difference is that the processor is T5250, 1.5Ghz, instead of T5450, 1.66 Ghz

    I might just do that!

I want to change to 1440x900.... otherwise I'll have to keep zooming in to read.

Can you apply the 5% coupon code on yours? It wont let me add it in the checkout

Try configuring a 1520 and make it over 2000 bucks, then add 39126C1C953C

It's from the EPP, tells me I cant use it or something =\... Worked yesterday.

    Hey prodigy,

Tried the code after configuring a $2300 1520.....and got this message The product you selected is not qualified for the coupon discount. Please amend your order and re-submit the coupon code.

But yeh its a confusing deal...4GB RAM....but 1.5 ghz, and 80GB harddrive. Would the comp run fast with 4GB ram and 1.5Ghz C2D?

Yeh i also chose 1440x900.....its just right imo.

1.5Ghz CPU is too low IMO.

It seems the coupon works and ends up being cheaper if you select the second 1520, then add 4GB of RAM manually and pick 2 year complete cover, then wifi, bluetooth etc.

Turns out to be 2500....Same setup as I had before except the 1440x900 screen which is the default they have chosen.

wow so you are getting the exact same specs as before, and saving almost $500!?

If that is the case, the wait will be well worth it.

back to the topic... is there a REAL Audigy driver or we're going to hide ourselves under the SigmaTel cheap chipset ? I'm asking this because with the Dell drivers they offered on CD/DVDs.. I cannot use advanced features even in older games like HL... for example I cannot have EAX available
