    is there a way to test sound card if working correctly/ on inspiron e1505?

    I would suggest reloading the sound driver and to check to see if your system is under warranty.

    If you just want to see if the system is outputting sound to the speaker, power up hitting F12. Select Diagnostics. The LCD test ( I think) has an audible tone.

    Further diagnostics:

    If you still have the factory image, power up hitting F12. Select Diagnostics. Select the sound option.

    If not, one of the discs that came with the system will be labled Resource CD/DVD. It will have the diags on it.
