Hi, I've been trying to install audio driver R167855 but every time I try this error appears:

ExitError:Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again.

Restarting doesn't fix it, neither does uninstalling the driver through Device Manager (currently running an automatic driver version)

I contacted Dell and the support staff couldn't figure it out, and deemed it to be a motherboard malfunction. She said she'd mail me a box to send back to the factory but it's been a week and no box yet.. it took 3 weeks for them to ship my Dell.. I really don't want to send it back for no reason because it will probably take a month to get it back.

The sound works on my Dell XPS 1530 fine, I'm wondering if there is a fix to this; or even if there is not should I worry about it. I don't mind not being able to install an audio driver because the sound works fine as is.. I just don't want to regret it a few months from now because something is wrong and my laptop crashes during the school year.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

Check if your mic works, because as I remember Mic doesn’t work without the driver. If everything checks out then don't worry. It could be some sort of a driver/registry corruption, in which case you may have to reinstall Windows. Before sending it off to DELL reinstall Windows and see.

Yeah the mic works, it couldn't be a motherboard malfunction if everything else is operating fine then right?
