    Hey all

Watched a couple of movies during the day and the sound was working fine using my usual external speakers. All the sound was working fine whether i had the speakers in or not. I had the pesky windows update telling me to restart the computer to install updates so i postponed for 4 hours. After watching the movie i went away and did other stuff for a couple of hours and shut the lid of the laptop. Came back and the computer was restarting itself for the windows update. Tried to play music after that and sound didn't work at all. Tried itunes, VLC player, youtube etc. and nothing worked, with the speakers in or out.

I look in the sounds options on the Device Manager and given 3 options:
    1. Bluetooth hands free audio
    2. IDT high definition audio CODEC
    3. Intel(R) high definition audio HDMI
they all say the devices are working properly

tried reinstalling the driver for audio for Studio 15 (R196492) but to no avail

I have two playback devices: (should i have 3?)
    1. speakers/headphones (IDT high defintion audio CODEC)
    2. Independant (R.T.C) headphones (IDT high defintion audio CODEC)
both say they are working with the first 1 ticked.
also wen i look to the side to see the sound levels thingy it is showing that it acknowledges the sound and goes up and down when i change the volume

Any1 got n e ideas i can use to be able to fix this please?
    o the windows updates were
    1. Windows vista update - windows media player better at detecting and fixing errors
    2. windows mail junk email filter
    3. and 2 security updates

so yea any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thx
    Dan
