I'm not sure how I can explain this, but I'll try: I recently reinstalled Windows 7--with my backup disc--because I had a few problems restarting the computer, as it would take an ungodly amount of time to restart (and sometimes never fully restart, either), so I reinstalled the OS and now I have this sound glitch that I don't understand.

Whenever I listen to music or watch videos or anything requiring the sound, there will be a quick sort of crack in the audio that sounds kind of like a burp. It's continuous if I'm listening to something for a longer period of time, probably every two minutes or so. And I have no idea what it is. I think all of my drivers are up to date, definitely the IDT Audio that I have in the laptop.

Does anyone know what this issue is or how I could get it fixed? Thank you.

Have you tried to run Dell's PSA (Preboot System Assessment), you can access it via F12 and the Diagnostics option.

Also have you tried external speakers? Are you still in warranty?

I haven't tried that yet, no, but I will now.

And no, I haven't tried external speakers as I think it would just do the same glitch but broadcast through them, as well; and also no, I'm not anymore. I can always just revamp the laptop from the beginning and not use my recovery disc. It was the first time I had done so and, yeah. Maybe the revamping will fix the restarting issue I was having from the beginning, too.

Anyway, I'll try to run the PSA and see how that works. Thanks for your help. :)

edit: I tried the PSA and it didn't come back with anything; everything's running normally, according to the test. I'll probably just get around to reinstalling Windows someday, as I'm not sure what else it could be other than that recovery disc. But anyway, thank you for your help. I appreciate it. I'm sorry I couldn't provide any other information for the problem, but what can I say. I'm not the most tech-savvy user, unfortunately.
