I'm tempted to buy a LG screen and change it myself for the c****Y Samsung I keep getting despite requests and assurances an LG screen is on the way from Dell UK.

Before doing this I need to know is if the cable connectors are standard on both the LG and Samsung. So I can just swap the screen and not need to change the cable over.

Allshookup has said that there is no need for the cable to be changed based on his recent experience. Can anyone else who witnessed their Samsung LCD being changed for an LG LCD confirm whether their cable was changed too?

The cable is attached to the LCD, not the computer.

This is awesome! You can buy a brand new Dell, and then spend only another $440 to replace the brand new LCD that came with the Dell with an actually good LCD and end up with a perfectly good notebook at the end of it all. Sweet! Is it possible to spend another $1000, to get a better keyboard, gigabit ethernet, a touchpad that doesn't malfunction, sound that isn't staticy, and a power supply that prevents shocks? Because, if so, for only twice as much as the original price, you could upgrade your Dell XPS to being actually a pretty good notebook, for only as little trouble as it takes to completely disassemble a notebook completely and reassemble it and the only thing you would lose is 100% of your warranty in the process.

Well, the cable is attached to both, and neither. There are plugs at both ends. As far as I could see when I swapped my Samsung screen for the AUO it was exactly the same, though Dell provides a replacement cable anyway. I assume the LG is also the same.

At the very least it could be used to point a clueless Tech Support employee to the page of the screen you are talking about.

Yup - just had an AUO swopped for a Samsung and the tech just used the existing cables.
