let's do this from the beginning.
1- you need to find where to copy the files to. to find this location, when in OE, right click on inbox>properties ... it tells you the location ... go there in explorer, and find where these files exist ... this is where we want the files to be copied to.
2- now you need to copy the files of the cd, and paste them in the location we went to in step 1. (If there is a same name conflict just rename to avoid any of your files being deleted).
3- OE has to be restarted so that it can load these new email files.
That's it.

Qwester and I both described the same thing..just different ways. Make sure to rename your files on your cd!
Let us know which method you want to use (import or copy), and one of us will walk you thru step by step. -
Ok, forget the copy method. go to the import method a few posts back. it won't replace any files, it is just going to bring your messages from the cd into OE.
It is a step by step thing. If you have problems, i'm here. -
sorry, copy method is hard to explain...
when you paste the address in the IE bar and press return, then minimize that window (send it to your desktop). You will come back to this window and paste your files from your cd.
on the 2nd step, when you open your cd drive, what do you see? -
Ok, i just backup my email and copied it back...here is how to do it step by step. This is on the pc that you want your email to be on.
1. Open OE-->click on file-->click on import-->click on messages
2. select Outlook Express 6, click next
3. select Main Identity, click ok
4. click on browse, go scroll thru the list until you find your cd drive. select your cd drive. click ok
5. click next
6.choose all the folders/files to be imported
7. click finish

I don't know what to tell you. Personally, I think you should resend your emails on the 9300 to another email address, and then wait until your tech friend comes back. You can also use a jumpdrive if you have one.
There are two methods to backing up and transferring your emails, actually 3.
1. resend them to your email address and download them again
2. use export/import method (but its the same as the copy method)
3. use copy method
I know I have, and I'm sure Qwester has, done this before as well as the others. We both stayed up late and tried to help you with this issue, and now you are saying that we don't know what we are doing?
The double/triple thing is most likely whenever the copy mix up happen. Good thing, at least it would be in OE. You can just go thru and delete the doubles/triples. If I was doing this on any of my systems, I would back up the email on your pc that is screwed up because of the eraser. That way, if by some odd chance the emails from the 9300 did mess up your emails (its not supposed to but with all the problems tonight, I wouldn't be surprised if it did), you would still have your other emails.
Besides, backing up your email is a good habit to get into. Like with me, I lost all of mine cause of my reformat when I couldn't get back into windows. -

I started to try what you suggested which was so simple but stopped when i got to the last stage after saying finisg/go ahead. That's when I went to look at the 9300 and saw 2 of all emails!!!
Now what? There was also an option/box to check of so you wouldn't add emails already on your system but i ignored it because you didn't have it in your steps. I don't know if I should do it!!! I think my cd is no good ,although not sure whats going on because somethng doubled the emails on the 9300 that we're trying to save! If i did attempt ,should I check the box where it said only certain emails will tranfer?? What if it changes or loses all my email on the most important computer I own??? It already is not back to normal due to the EraserPro. Would a system restore put it back???

There is a serious problem. I keep telling you the CD is not right. When I burned it ...it doubled every single email on the 9300. I don't know if it was during one of the 2/3 times I put it in the drive to see what would open! I think I tried three times in the 9300.

Editd for spelling errors by me....... -
Like I said, I'm sorry. I just totally read it wrong, and I don't know why. I wish I could stay up longer, but I have a 4 hour drive to do in a few hours, and I'm exhuasted.

Sorry, i don't know if it was the way i read your post, or just because i'm getting sleepy. I'm sorry that I said that.
I going to have to go to bed now. The easiest thing right now since you are under a time crunch is to send your emails on the 9300 to another email account. Make sure there is not else on there that you need. Once you are sure, then use the dell restore utility, which I think you have the steps for. I don't remember what topic it was under. It will clear off your pc. It should only take an hour to 2 hours to do. I would let it do its thing while you sleep.
Goodluck

I believe you. Like I said, I just read it wrong or i'm really tired. I've been arguing with my laptop all night, then trying to do this, my brain is just going around in circles at some points. -
Andministraters/moderators,
Feel free to delete what you want but then no one gets to see how much time Southergirl (5 hrs) ,Qwester for example put into it. Not to mention that there are suggestions for the normal person that should be able to reference (I had problems with my Cd I burned the email onto or who knows for sure hat else I had going on)!
Thanks,

Southerngirl...everyone,
All set for now. The notebook was erased and picked up yesterday!
Thanks, I don't think under normal circumstances I would have needed help! I did and everything was attempted but no luck with this topic!
It's over and done with ! Extra remarks for Southergirl and Qwester are under General Topics!

Southerngirl ,etc...
To let you know before I asked for help, I did "google" my question beause everything I did was not working. I usually backup my email simialar to below instructions for OE! I never did mention that I tried several things before hand and for Southergirl,Qwester, others that new what happened prevoiusly due someone intentionally screwing up all my computers caused things not to work properly ,among oter issues like all of us being too tired!
Backup Outlook Express Email Messages
Step 1
Open Outlook Express.
Click on the TOOLS Menu and select OPTIONS
Click the MAINTENANCE Tab and then click on Store Folder
You now see the location of your Mail Folder.
Highlite the Folder Location and press CTRL+C to copy the location.
Click Cancel and then Cancel again to close all boxes.
Click the Windows Start button and the click Run. In the open box press CTRL+V to paste the mail location, then click OK.
You should now have a window containing you e-mail database files.
From the EDIT Menu, click Select All. Edit Menu click COPY. Now close the window.
Right click your desktop, click NEW and then FOLDER.
Type a name for the folder and hit ENTER.
Double click the Folder you just created to open it. From the EDIT Menu select PASTE. Close the window.
You have now backed up your email messages.
Restore Backed up Email Messages
Open Outlook Express, File - Import - Messages . Select Microsoft Outlook Express Version 5 or 6. Click Next.
Then select "import from a OE5 or OE6 Store Directory". Click OK, then browse to the folder you created earlier, click next, the rest is up to you which folders you wish to import.
Note:
If you saved your database backups to a CD, then you must copy all the files to a folder on your HD, once you have done this.
1. Open Windows Explorer, open the folder where you copied the files, select all the files.
2. On the 'Menu Bar' click 'File', 'Properties'.
3. In the box that opens, make sure 'Read Only' has no check mark in it, (there may be a greyed out tick in it, just click the box).
4. Click 'OK' and you can then open Outlook Express and import your messages.
