Question for those of you guys who own spare (usually higher capacity) battery - do you find yourself using the standard battery more than the high cap one ? (b-cs its lighter, doesn't stick out, etc) Or do you have your high cap battery on most of the time? Can you please comment?

My order automatically included 9cell and I didn't ask for 6cell (in order to get the discount I didn't even have 6cell option). Now I'm worried if I need to order 6cell separately...

Spare batteries are always "nice to have". Some people, depending on their usage (key phrase here) will swear by them......others will never need a 2nd battery.

Start with one and if you find that you're running out of portable power, then invest in another. If you don't need two, you've saved yourself some money.

Actually, I'm more concerned with the fact that I'm stuck with heavier/larger 9cell, and don't have the option of going lighter/smaller :)

I've got the m1330 with the 9 cell which actually props up the back of the laptop by about half an inch. For me personally, I like this because it a) increases the typing angle and makes it more comfortable, b) provides more ventilation under the laptop when on a flat surface, and c) it's an extended battery! :)

Depending if you ordered the m1330 or not, this obviously may or may not apply.

I'd wait until you get the laptop and if you aren't happy with the 9 cell, call Dell back and inquire about exchanging it for the 6 cell.

Depends on your needs. For example, my friend prefer 9 cell battery that last for average 5 hours so when he went to library or bookstores, he doesn't have to carry his A/C adaptor. 6 cell with a/c adaptor still take more space than just 9 cell alone. However, in my case, i move my laptop from home to work and need to run it about 8-10 hours a day.... What I do is to buy another A/C adaptor and put one at home and one at work. Because an extra 6 cell is like $50-80 (9 cell is like $80-100), an extra A/C adaptor is only about $30. So, think what's your need then decide.

I purchased the 6 cell and 9 cell for my M1330, but I don't foresee myself using the 9 cell much since the 6 cell provides very good battery life, which I wasn't expecting from initial reviews. Perhaps for very long days at the university, I will opt for the 9 cell. I think that convenience of choice is useful - if I want more battery life, at least the 9 cell is there for me to use.
