I have a vostro 1500 and when i play music the sound crackles and skips.

I've had a look on line and it seems that it is an issue with sigmatel and vista. I downloaded a new driver and thought this would resolve it but it hasnt and now when i turn the volume mixer down to zero i can still hear music. Now i tried to install the sigmatel driver off the resource cd but it says something about the device object and tells me to restart.

Has anyone had this problem and fixed it? Would greatly appreciate the help

put a DVD movie into your drive (just pick one you never watch) and leave it there, it will work...

Great...is there any way to fix it without deleting Vista (would be a huge hassle to re-install everything)?

Is it a sound card patch or a Vista patch?
